The Green IT

The Green IT is the sustainable use of computing, which is present in all companies, and countless other human activities including our homes.

Reducing emissions of greenhouse gases projects are associated while manufacturing equipment, components and exploitation of raw material (oil-intensive and chemical processes).

To reduce carbon emissions, the steps of the production chain of components and equipment must pass through adaptation to environmental laws, through tools such as Lean Manufacturing, ISO 14001 norms, and especially the implementation of a "Road Map" for suppliers that are accending to the issue of social and environmental sustainability, and also are implementing rules to reduce CO2.

So it is possible to calculate the reduction of the "Ecological Footprint" in CO2, analyzing the issue of production processes and also during manufacture of the assets acquired by the company.

However, some aspects of business and industrial activities hardly adapt to this new reality of the economy sustainablility (the "green" economy, environmental economics, etc.).

For example, it is unimaginable that closing down the operations of the stock market based on the fact that equipment use oil-intensive products in its manufacture (computers parts, cell phones, monitors, videos, etc.).

In these cases the tool is the Carbon Offset. Through partnerships with environmental organizations, calculate the total CO2 emitted in the manufacture of the assets purchased by your company (or in the production process), and carried out the planting of trees for reforestation.

The Carbon Neutralization occurs when emissions of CO2 (assets and production processes) were fully offset by initiatives of Lean Manufacturing, ISO 14001, compliance with environmental legislation, and finally Carbon Offset (reforestation).

Specifically in IT area, we can calculate the CO2 emissions in the manufacturing of IT assets and offset through reforestation. This analysis can be extrapolated to the entire company (carpets, furniture, office supplies, vehicle fleet, everything can be compensated).

Finally, the choice of suppliers who already realize the emission reduction and compensation of CO2 decreases the amount of CO2 that your company must compensate. 

The trick is to choose suppliers that have undermined the CO2 in the manufacture of their products, thus reducing emissions that his company will compensate the economic chain.

Some companies have partnered for reforestation greater than his own Ecological Footprint (eg. law firm). Thus, carbon offset would be ideal for all human activities, but it is always possible to go beyond!
